BMW i Andretti Motorsport has unveiled the new iFE.20 that will compete in season 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

BMW says it worked hard to improve the efficiency of the racer’s drivetrain following the experience the team gathered during its maiden Formula E season. Improvements have also been made to the software that calculates energy management strategies and the rear-end structure was reworked to provide more flexibility for different setups.

In terms of design, the iFE.20 wears a revised livery that incorporates white sections with different shades of blue and purple, while the middle part of the bodywork, including the cockpit, is painted matte black. Differentiating the two cars set to compete throughout the season is a more violet tinge to the #27 car and a more pronounced blue on the #28 vehicle. The driver lineup consists of Alexander Sims and Maximilian Günther.

“The whole BMW i Andretti Motorsport team is excited to get Season 6 underway,” team principal Roger Griffiths said. “Large parts of the team have remained the same, and this continuity has allowed us to build on our experiences from last season. We are excited to welcome to the team our new driver Maximilian Günther; his performances to date have been convincing and we are looking forward to working with him in the coming months. It is also great to have Alexander Sims stay in our team.”

Season 6 of the Formula E Championship kicks off in November in the Saudi Arabian town of Diriyah.
