Is This What The 2020 Toyota Supra Should Have Looked Like From The Factory?

There is a 2020 Toyota Supra currently residing in Bahrain that could very well be the finest example anywhere on earth.

Owned by EKanno Racing, this stunning blue 2020 GR Supra has been adorned with a series of aftermarket modifications to make it really stand out.

The most obvious alterations come in the form of a carbon fiber front splitter, carbon side skirts, and new carbon fins on either side of the rear bumper. Additionally, the Japanese sports car is sitting on a set of 20-inch Vossen wheels and perhaps most important of all, includes a towering rear wing.

Criticisms about the new Toyota Supra being nothing more than a re-badged BMW have been raging from the moment the car was unveiled earlier this year. The presence of a huge rear wing similar in shape to the wing of the famed Mk4 Supra makes the new one clearly identifiable as a Toyota. In fact, we happen to think this Supra looks so good that the sports car should have left the factory looking like this.

It doesn’t appear as though EKanno Racing intends on calling it quits with these new exterior parts fitted as the performance shop has shared an image on Instagram showing the car being put to the test on a dyno. Those with good eyes may even notice the man responsible for the Toyota 86 and the new Supra, Tetsuya Tada, is actually sitting in the background.

  • Dude

Yes but I wish the wing was a little better integrated. Otherwise that’s a great looking car

  • Six_Tymes

Yes. just sans the integrated rear trunk lid wing, and slightly lower addon wing. That color looks fantastic, as do all the addon bits, they really help the look. Maybe there is hope yet for a higher performance version such as this. I know there has been talk, but talk is cheap. This might be signs of good things to come, I hope. That car needs an infusion of performance with style.

  • Tabari Lucas

not a fan of the supras design from the concept, but that looks sick with that wing. Don’t love the exaggerated trunk lip with it tho. That style wheel is perfect for this car.

  • Mr. EP9

If the proportions were better, maybe. The car still looks bulbous all around.

    • Bob

One of the biggest issues with the proportions is how short the car is compared to previous Supra generations. It’s like a chibby Supra.

  • Aelwyn

    That blue is great.

  • bryceee

Then you sit in the car, and see all the BMW parts bin special.

    • shikar babulall

Well then Toyota should of built their own engine like Nissan and Honda , no 1 forced them to put in a BMW engine. They were just so long out of tune so they had to put 1.

      • Leconte Dave

        It was too expensive

  • SteersUright

Looks fantastic. Captures the vibe of the last Supra much better, especially with that wing which is surprisingly well integrated.

  • Breda
  • Kagan

It should have cost 20 grand less in europé.

  • ctk4949

Dont mind the spoiler, but that huge duckbill is too much.

  • ErnieB

I agree!! The proportions and that stunning rear spoiler would have completely taken the world by storm even if it had some BMW parts in it or even better the LCs NA V8. Oh.. and the interior of that concept was to die for.

  • Alduin

Why can’t Toyota just bring back the 1993-2002 Supra? Modernize it with newer updated head and tail lights, interior and different bumpers. This BMW thing isn’t a Supra.

  • CBV2020

E X A C T L Y. The FT-1 was actually the curbside mind-blower we were robbed of. What we experienced was designer’s proof that the vision of what Supra WOULD HAVE been today was fully understood. And then… corporation happened. End result, CRAP in comparison. The FT-1 was a $100K+ vision of pure passion and excellence.

  • Leconte Dave

That was the original plan . But it would have been 100k +

    • ksegg

I bet you if it was priced at $100K+ it would sell like hotcakes amongst people who buy exotics.

Versus it being priced at $60-70K and people being meh about it and not pulling the trigger on a Z4.

  • ksegg

Came here to post exactly THIS. If Toyota built the Supra like this, I’m sure I’d be in a LONG line of people shouting SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

  • Smith

But it doesn’t look like this so move on ….
