Koenigsegg Releases Onboard Footage Of Regera’s 0-400-0 km/h World Record

As promised, Koenigsegg released the uncut onboard footage of the Regera’s recent 0-400-0 km/h record run.

Koenigsegg beat its own world record with the Regera, after setting a 0-400-0 km/h in 31.49 seconds, 1.8 seconds faster than what the Agera RS achieved back in 2017. The Agera also managed a 0-250-0 mph in 32.48 seconds.

The record run took place at the Rada airfield in Sweden on September 23, with Koenigsegg test driver Sonny Persson sitting behind the wheel. The onboard footage provides real-time acceleration and deceleration data but unfortunately the camera over-exposed the exterior environment.

The Koenigsegg Regera is powered by a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 engine, alongside three electric motors for a combined output of 1,500 HP that go straight to the rear axle via the brand’s innovative Direct Drive transmission. What this means is that the Regera has just a single gear, with Koenigsegg claiming that this transmission reduces energy losses by up to 50 percent in comparison with a traditional gearbox.

“This was a good opportunity to showcase the true capability of the Regera’s one-of-a-kind Direct Drive transmission,” said Christian von Koenigsegg. “As the Regera only has one gear we had to make use of it from standstill to the record top speed of 403 km/h (or 250 mph) limited by rpm.”

After celebrating the new world record, Koenigsegg teased their upcoming top speed record effort, with Sonny Persson playfully saying to Christian ‘Hold my beer’. Time for Koenigsegg to unleash the Jesko? Only time will tell.
