Just like parent company Toyota, Lexus is also extending the warranty for the battery of its hybrid cars for the 2020 model year, from the current 8 years/100,000 miles to 10 years/150,000 miles, whichever comes first.
The battery warranty extension applies to all new 2020 Lexus hybrid models while all other hybrid-related components remain covered under the company’s Hybrid System Warranty at 8 years/100,000 miles (likewise, whichever comes first).

The latter covers repairs required to fix defects or workmanship of components like the Hybrid Battery Control Module, the Hybrid Control Module and the Inverter with Converter.
Lexus’ new 10-year/150,000-mile battery warranty is the longest one offered in the premium segment that covers both first ownership and all subsequent owners in the United States.
The Japanese automaker currently offers six hybrid models in its 2020 U.S. lineup: the RX Hybrid, the UX Hybrid, the NX Hybrid, the LC Hybrid, the LS Hybrid and the ES Hybrid.
“Lexus introduced the first hybrid luxury crossover, RX 400h, in 2005 and first rear-wheel drive hybrid, GS, in 2007, and we remain a leader in luxury hybrid sales,” said Michael Moore, senior manager, Lexus Vehicle Marketing. “By implementing this new warranty extension for the hybrid battery, we are continuing to offer guests the eco-conscious benefits of a hybrid without compromising on performance, value or styling.”
Lexus is also getting ready to debut a new electric vehicle concept at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, reportedly previewing a future production model and the company’s latest autonomous-driving technologies.
