Mercedes’ Audi A6 Allroad rival, the E-Class All-Terrain is set to launch in the coming months as a 2020MY variant, boasting a little more Sensual Purity within its design.

So like the regular 2020 E-Class facelift model, the All-Terrain will also feature a CLS-like front grille with GLE-like headlights, in an attempt to appear more modern – a good strategy since the latest A6 Allroad is a completely new model.

This particular prototype, much like the one we saw roughly a year ago, is heavily camouflaged where it counts, but again, we know pretty much what to expect from it as far as its grille and light units are concerned. What we can’t see all that well is the front bumper, which we suspect features a more angular design than before, with beefier edges.

The facelifted E-Class All-Terrain should also land Mercedes’ latest infotainment tech and software, latest active safety tech, new materials/trims and possibly an upgraded engine range. Currently, you can purchase this premium jacked up wagon in either E 220d 4MATIC All-Terrain or E 400d 4MATIC All-Terrain spec.

As for its main rival, the Audi A6 Allroad, a brand new version of it was unveiled this past summer and it has already gone on sale rocking a 3.0-liter TDI diesel unit with various outputs.

Those who would rather have a gasoline-powered high-riding wagon can always opt for the Volvo V90 Cross Country, which can be had not only with D4 and D5 diesels, but also a T5 AWD or T6 AWD setup.
