This Is China’s Skoda Kamiq GT Crossover Coupe Before You’re Supposed To See It

Skoda will officially pull the wraps off the new Kamiq GT on November 4, but meanwhile, Chinese outlets have published the first images of the compact coupe-crossover with no camouflage whatsoever.

Based on the Chinese-spec Kamiq, which is different than the one sold in Europe, the Kamiq GT is a crossover coupe aimed strictly at the People’s Republic. It’s said to be 4,409 mm (173.6 in) long, 1,781 mm (70.1 in) wide and 1,606 mm (63.2 in) tall, or slightly longer and taller than the regular Kamiq, sharing the same width and 2,610 mm (102.6 in) wheelbase.

Chinese Skoda Kamiq

On the outside, it looks like a sleeker variant of the regular Chinese market Kamiq, with slender headlights and taillights, more pronounced creases in the front bumper, ‘Skoda’ lettering in the middle of the tailgate and an arched roofline. The D-pillar resembles that of the Audi Q2 and elsewhere, the vehicle sports several chrome accents and rides on five-spoke alloy wheels.

The interior of the crossover coupe seems identical to the local market Kamiq, with the same dashboard layout, infotainment system, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, HVAC controls, gear selector and handbrake lever. The seats though appear to be offering more support and are wrapped in a different-styled upholstery.

Powering the entry-level model is believed to come from a 1.5-liter, naturally aspirated engine, making 111 PS (109 hp / 82 kW) and 145 Nm (107 lb-ft) of torque. A 1.2-liter, turbocharged unit is expected to be offered as well, and this one should develop 116 PS (114 hp / 85 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission options are likely to include the 5-/6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic like the one pictured in the photos.
