What’s the fastest accelerating SUV out there? If you ask Lamborghini, they’ll say it’s the Urus, but Hennessey begs to differ, as their Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is hypercar fast.
With the HPE1200 upgrade that includes both revised and new mechanical parts, the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 makes a stunning 1,200 hp (1,217 PS / 895 kW) and 1,000 lb-ft (1,356 Nm) of torque, on 109 octane fuel. The tuner claims a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in just 2.3 seconds, along with a top speed of 200+ mph (322 km/h) and a quarter mile run in 9.6 seconds, at 145 mph (233 km/h).

To prove its metal, the Texan tuner brought the supped up Grand Cherokee Trailhawk to the Pennzoil Proving Grounds pitting it against one of the fastest accelerating supercars: the McLaren 720S. The British blue-blooded machine has already shown its drag racing credentials plenty of times. As a reminder, it reaches 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, and can keep going all the way up to 212 mph (341 km/h). The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pumps out 710 hp (720 PS / 530 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque, or about the same as the stock Trackhawk, which has 707 hp (716 PS / 527 kW) and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque.
Tipping the scales at 3,168 pounds (1,437 kg), the Macca is the lightest of the two, with the Jeep weighing 5,408 lbs (2,453 kg), according to Hennessey. So, with hypercar levels of power and acceleration, can the impressive high-riding vehicle beat the 720S?
