Fifty five years ago, Carroll Shelby put the foundation stone on the Mustang GT350 with his fastback coupe, which was driven to victory at Green Valley Raceway in Texas on February 14, 1965, by Ken Miles. Now, Ford is celebrating that legacy with the 2020 Mustang Shelby Heritage Edition Package.

Available for $1,965 for the Mustang GT350 and GT350R, which start at $60,440 and $73,435, respectively, excluding taxes and fees, it’s already up for grabs at the company’s dealers across the nation and will enter production early next year. The first cars equipped with the limited pack will be delivered to customers next spring.

The Heritage Edition muscle cars sport a Wimbledon White paint finish and are adorned with Guardsman Blue side and over-the-top race stripes (white and blue have been assigned as the nation’s international racing colors since the 1950s). They also boast special badges at both ends in Guardsman Blue, as well as a unique logo inside. Furthermore, the GT350R adds black leather seats with red accent stitching on the inside.

“Looking back on it, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created back in the mid-‘60s was so important to Mustang”, said Ford Mustang Marketing Manager, Jim Owens. “With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand.”

The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R was already updated earlier this year, while the GT350 was tweaked in mid-2018.
