The 2020 Ram 1500 pickup truck has received positive feedback from the start of this generation’s career, but now it’s the time to see what a British reviewer thinks of it.

Mat Watson of Carwow continues his series of North American vehicle reviews with the 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie and it’s safe to say he liked it.

The Ram 1500 features one of the most practical and well-built interiors in its class, featuring nice materials, more storage areas than you can imagine and an excellent infotainment system with a giant portrait-style touchscreen display – at least in the Laramie model tested here.

In addition, the RAM 1500 is the only truck in its class offered with rear coil springs instead of leaf springs, with the company even offering an air suspension as an option. The result is a truck that not only offers class-leading ride quality but also very good handling as well.

Power here comes from a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 producing 395 HP and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm) of peak torque. The unit is paired to a Torqueflite eight-speed automatic transmission and a part-time all-wheel drive system.

On the road the RAM 1500 offers the nicest handling, according to the reviewer, providing better comfort than its leaf spring rivals and better composure on a winding road as well. The V8 engine is loud when you want it while brake power is more than enough for the size and weight of the truck.
