The Sentry Mode of a Tesla Model 3 has captured the moment two young men tried to damage the vehicle’s charging cable.
This footage, shared online by the Tesla owner, was captured at the parking garage of the Park MGM center in Las Vegas. Initially, it shows one young man curiously try to open up the car before returning to his own vehicle and unlocking it.

Seconds later, a second man enters the frame and walks directly towards the charging cable, yanking on it vigorously to try and remove it. Anyone who’s driven a Tesla will know that the charging cable has to be unlocked before it can be removed. Clearly unaware of this, the man even tries to kick the cable. It doesn’t work. Soon after, the first man mimics his friend in trying to kick out the cable, setting off the car’s alarm in the process.
Understandably concerned with this, the group of friends all rush into their car and leave the scene.
The owner of the Tesla Model 3 says he was able to report and send the footage to security personnel at the parking garage.

Our model 3 was able to alert us that someone was tampering with the vehicle at 2am in Vegas. I had Sentry Mode on and it recorded these individuals trying to break off the charging plug. I was able to report and send this to Park MGM Security. Technology is kind of cool!
It remains to be seen if parking security are perusing the matter.
