McLaren 570S GT4 Race Car Receives New Hardware For 2020 Season

The McLaren 570S GT4 customer race car has received a small refresh for 2020 as it’s getting ready for its fourth racing season.

Thanks to McLaren’s ongoing development programme, the 2020 570S GT4 is now getting a new endurance braking kit that offers improved braking consistency and reduced degradation, focusing more on longer endurance events.

The kit includes not only a new six-piston caliper design but also new bespoke suspension uprights and uprated brake discs and pads. The new option is homologated for racing from March 1, 2020 and is available either as a factory-fit option or a retro-fitted item, so existing owners can add it to their cars too.

The McLaren 570S GT4 is fresh out of its more successful season since it first launched, ending 2019 with a 1-2 finish at the Gulf 12-Hour at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Mclaren’s popular customer race car scored three titles and victories in each of the championships it raced during the season.

Overall, it’s also the most successful GT racer McLaren has ever offered so far, scoring 140 podium finishes by customer racing teams last year. Power is still provided by the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The GT4 race version of the baby McLaren is priced from £180,000 for 2020, with the price including the previously optional removable quick-release steering wheel. Customers can add the Sprint Power Upgrade kit for an additional £600, raising the twin-turbo V8’s power to 540 PS for track driving outside of homologated racing events.
