You probably don’t need to be a massive Knight Rider fan in order to appreciate a Pontiac Trans Am, but let’s just say that being familiar with everyone’s favorite talking car definitely doesn’t hurt.

This particular 1989 Trans Am GTA model is getting auctioned off through Bring a Trailer with just 10,000 miles (16,000 km) on its 5.7-liter V8 engine. It is easily one of the best kept Trans Ams we’ve seen in a long time.

The exterior is finished in Bright Red, with matching bumpers, ground effects and rear spoiler, as well as contrasting removable glass roof panels. Its cross-spoke 16-inch wheels boast gold finished centers to go with the polished lips and Toyo Proxes 4 tires. The WS6 performance suspension package and four-wheel disc brakes came as standard.

The interior features manually-adjustable grey leather seats which appear to be in really good condition, as well as matching carpets, floor mats, power windows and mirrors, an AM/FM cassette stereo player, cruise control and a four-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with audio controls.

It’s funny how there are still carmakers today that don’t offer multifunction steering wheels on entry-level models, yet you could have one on a Pontiac sports car from the 80s.

Finally we have the 5.7-liter V8 unit, which was factory rated at 240 HP and 340 lb-ft (461 Nm) of torque. Everything goes to the rear wheels with the aid of a 4-speed automatic transmission. It’s safe to say that you won’t be buying this car for its performance, though thankfully it’s not the slowest thing in the world either, with a 0-60 time of about 7.5 seconds.
