Kuhl Racing, also known as Rohan Izawa Art Design, has created a host of striking cars in recent years adorned with bodywork that looks as though it’s been engraved from shiny metal. This 1958 Chevrolet Impala is one of its latest projects.

The car was recently displayed at the San Deigo Automobile Museum and has a similar exterior finish to a Subaru WRX STI and Nissan GT-R created by the aftermarket firm a few years ago. In images, it looks as though a master craftsman has delicately carved into the bodywork but that’s actually not the case at all.

Instead, this Impala is adorned with an intriguing 3D paint scheme complete with different shades of silver. The painter responsible for the finish uses stencils in the bodywork to make it look as though it’s been engraved. We’ve got no doubt it’s an extremely laborious process but the finished result is absolutely mind-blowing.

At the Tokyo Auto Salon, Kuhl Racing unveiled a pair of Dodge Challengers that it had worked on. While these two cars didn’t feature this ‘engraved-look’ paintwork, they did both feature striking paint with one finished in red and the other painted bright blue.
