A McLaren 600LT has been wrecked by an alleged drunk driver in North Hollywood and the 25-year-old passenger killed.

The Mercury News reports that the accident occurred at the corner of Houston Street and Carpenter Avenue in North Hollywood at around 9:39 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Driving the British supercar was tattoo artist Daniel Silva who appeared on “Ink Master, while seated in the passenger seat was YouTuber Corey La Barrie who was celebrating his 25th birthday.

Police say Silva was driving the 600LT at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle, run off the road and collided with a stop sign and a tree at the intersection of Houston Street and Carpenter Avenue. Authorities claim Silva exited the vehicle and tried to flee the scene but was stopped by citizens who came to render their assistance.

Both Silva and La Barrie were transported to hospital where the YouTuber died from his injuries. Silva wasn’t seriously injured. Silva has been charged with murder with his bail set at $2 million, according to an LAPD release (even though a number of news stations set it at $200,000).

Footage showing the wrecked McLaren reveals that it was the passenger side of the car that took the full force of the impact with the tree.

“Drivers are reminded to obey the rules of the road and to drive at a safe speed,” the LAPD said after the crash. “Speed kills and reckless driving puts other innocent bystanders in danger as well. If you are involved in a collision, you should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify yourself.”
