The Hyundai Palisade has been overshadowed by the fantastic Kia Telluride, but the company is looking to grab some attention with a new Calligraphy trim.

Introduced in South Korea a few months ago, the Palisade Calligraphy is a range-topping model that features a number of exclusive details.

Starting with the exterior, the Calligraphy has a unique grille, additional chrome trim and special 20-inch alloy wheels. The crossover also comes equipped with puddle lights, a unique lighting “signature” and an ultra-wide LED third brake light.

Bigger changes occur in the cabin as buyers will find an upscale interior with a microfiber-suede headliner and quilted-leather door panels. There’s also a perforated leather steering wheel and a special cargo sill protection plate.

Since the model is based on the Palisade Limited, it also comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and heated / ventilated Nappa leather seats.  Other highlights include second-row captain chairs, a Harman Kardon premium audio system and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation.

Power is provided by a 3.8-liter V6 engine that produces 291 hp (217 kW / 295 PS) and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which is paired to a standard all-wheel drive system.

Besides the new range-topping variant, the 2021 Palisade has “undergone significant content repackaging to give buyers of all trim levels added comfort and convenience.” In particular, the entry-level Palisade SE now comes equipped with LED headlights, HD radio and support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The mid-level Palisade SEL gains a sunroof and LED map lights, while the Premium package has been expanded to include GPS navigation, Highway Drive Assist, SiriusXM satellite radio and an in-car intercom system.

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade will arrive at U.S. dealerships later this month, but there’s no word on pricing at this point.
