Bentley will be recreating the iconic Blower in a modern-day limited-edition series, the first one in the pre-war era.

Dubbed the Bentley Blower Continuation Series, the new special model will be built in just 12 copies, and all of them have been pre-sold, with customers currently choosing the exterior and interior colors.

Nonetheless and before work can start on the customer cars, the crew from Crewe has started assembling the first prototype. For this, they have turned to renowned specialists from all over Great Britain to supply the components, from the chassis to the suspension, engine, headlamps, various other parts, and so on, all of which feature traditional building techniques passed down through generations.

“After almost a year of highly detailed engineering work, it is extremely rewarding to see the first parts coming together to form the first Bentley Blower in over 90 years”, said Mulliner’s Tim Hannig.

“The skill of our engineers and technicians in completing hundreds of individual part specifications is equaled only by that of the artisans across the country that have handmade the components that we’re now starting to bolt together. As we go, we’re refining designs and fixing problems, which is exactly what a prototype build is for.”

In order for the modern-day Blower Continuation Series to stay true to the original model, Bentley’s technicians have studied the old-timer, using CAD technology to supplement the original blueprints from the 1920s, thus helping the new one come to life.

The famous 4.5-liter engine, featuring aluminum pistons, overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder, and twin-spark ignition, will be fitted with a supercharger. Subsequently, the engineers will be tuning it on the specially prepared testbed at the Crewe factory, and it is expected to develop around 240 horsepower.

Car Zero will be shown to the world this fall, but not before being displayed to the 12 customers.
