The all-electric VW ID.R has set another lap record, this time at Germany’s Bilster Berg circuit.

As the German automaker continues to promote EV technologies with the ID.R, it brought the car to Bilster Berg aiming to beat the previous lap record of 1:44.7 set by a Radical SR3 SL. Not only did it beat the Radical but it completely destroyed it, recording a best lap time of 1:24.2. Behind the wheel of the car was Dieter Depping.

This isn’t the only record that VW wants to break with the ID.R this year. At the UK’s Goodwood SpeedWeek on October 16-18, the car will hit the Goodwood Motor Circuit with the aim of setting a new lap record at the 3.8 km (2.36 mile) track.

The current Goodwood Motor Circuit lap record belongs to F1 legends Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart who both record times of 1:20.4 during an unofficial Formula 1 race in 1965. There’s little doubt that the ID.R will easily set a new lap record but it remains to be seen just how much faster it will be.

Since the unveiling of the ID.R a couple of years ago, VW has broken the outright Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record with a run of 7:57.148 while also setting a record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb, an electric vehicle record at the Nurburgring, and a record at Tianmen Mountain in China.
