New spy shots have emerged of McLaren’s next Ultimate Series model, along with speculation it could be dubbed the Sabre.
McLaren has been working on the limited-edition model for at least two years and first announced it way back in October 2018. At the time, it was known as the BC-03 and takes inspiration from the McLaren Ultimate Vision GT concept from 2017. The British automaker recently showcased this camouflaged prototype at a McLaren dealership in California.
Visually, this prototype looks identical to leaked images of the hypercar from last year. Consequently, it includes a sharp front end with angular bodywork and slim headlights. When viewed from the side, the limited-run McLaren reveals large air intakes and similar half-cut windows to the track-focused Senna.

The rear end of the car acts as its pièce de résistance and includes a unique engine cover with eight air vents, a massive rear wing, a central shark fin, and an imposing diffuser. There are also a pair of tailpipes in the center of the rear fascia, as well as a thin LED light bar.
As for the name of the car, it has yet to be confirmed but reports point towards it being called the McLaren Sabre as the automaker recently filed a trademark application for the name in the U.S.
When McLaren unveiled its Ultimate Vision GT in 2017, it said the car featured a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine driving the rear wheels and a pair of electric motors housed in each of the front wheels. This resulted in a claimed 1,134 HP (1,150 PS), and 940 lb-ft (1,275 Nm). Well, it appears the production-ready McLaren Sabra will feature just such a powertrain with the same horsepower and torque figures. If true, that will make the Sabra the carmaker’s most powerful production model.
It is claimed that the production of the hypercar will be capped at just 15 units with pricing expected to start from at least $3.3 million.
