Supercar startup Naran Automotive teased us with a new front-mid-engined hypercar this past summer, with reports coming in of blistering 0-60 and top speed times.

So what is it? It’s called the Naran, just like the company itself, and it is a 2+2 GT3-inspired so-called hyper coupe, powered by a race-derived 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, good for 1,034 HP (1,048 PS) and 764 lb-ft (1,036 Nm) of torque. It will have a limited run of just 49 units.

Each Naran will be individually tailored as to the personal requirements of the customer, who will even get his or her own bespoke model name – something normally reserved for luxury super yachts.

Responsible for its design is none other than Jowyn Wong, founder of Wyn Design – the man behind the Apollo IE and De Tomaso P72. This is undoubtedly a very dynamic looking vehicle, where the front splitter and rear diffuser appear as a one-piece, while the 22-inch hybrid-carbon wheels and side aero blade have both functional and visual characteristics.

What can it do?

The previously mentioned 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is bespoke to the Naran and was developed in Germany by Racing Dynamics. On paper, the hyper-coupe can rocket from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 2.3 seconds, will hit 100 mph (161 km/h) in 4.56 seconds and will climb all the way to 230 mph (370 km/h) and beyond.

It should also do pretty darn well in the corners, seen as how the aero package produces an industry-leading 1,377 kg (3,035 lbs) of downforce, which is more than you get on a GT3 race car.

Power goes from the engine to the road via an all-wheel drive system, although the driver will have the option to switch to rear-wheel drive should they choose to. Other mechanical highlights include the race-derived double-wishbone suspension with adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars, Ohlins four-way adjustable race-spec damping system, a race-grade hydraulic steering rack, carbon ceramic brakes and spherical bearings for improved steering feel and precision.

As for the interior, all we know so far is that the materials were tailored by former Aston Martin Lagonda designer Kate Montgomery.

The Naran hypercar will make its debut sometime early next year.
