Any competent automotive designer can create renderings of a wild supercar and proclaim that the vehicle will hit the production line and tackle the industry’s established players.

However, actually turning it into reality is very difficult. Apollo Automobili is one of the few companies in recent years to make it happen.

Eager to make an impression, the company created what could be the craziest-looking road-legal production car we’ve seen so far. It’s hard to make a vehicle which turns more heads than Lamborghinis and Paganis, but that’s exactly what the Intensa Emozione, aka IE, does.

Last weekend, the British car manufacturer brought the latest IE it has built at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. We presume that this example is a customer car yet, despite its value, it was driven up the famous hillclimb in anger on a number of occasions.

Underpinning the IE is a carbon fiber chassis co-developed with HWA AG and Capricorn Group. The monocoque is joined by carbon subframes and crash structures and, according to Apollo, is so strong that it “partly exceeds respective FIA LMP2 safety requirements.”

Power comes courtesy of a Ferrari-derived 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V12. The car howls like a proper hypercar should and, with 769 HP and 561 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque, it doesn’t just talk the talk but walks the walk too.

Apollo only intends on building 10 examples of the IE , but we suspect it could sell many more if it decided to. Each has a starting price of $2.71 million, but can be customized to each owner’s preferences.
