February 4 is set to be a big day for Nissan. The automaker will be revealing both the Pathfinder, which was teased on Friday, and the Frontier, which it is previewing today.

Although the brand has already revealed some details about the new pickup, this is our first official look at the new grille, which is appropriately upright and tough-looking. With the word Frontier embossed along the top of the grille, the new front end will certainly be distinct.

The teaser does seem to confirm, though, that the new truck will resemble the leaked (teased?) front end that we saw buried in a Navara premiere video back in November. And that’s good news, both the leak and this look pretty chunky, rugged, and good.

The video Nissan released today didn’t give many details, but the brand has previously revealed that the Frontier will be powered by the 3.8-liter V6 that was introduced on the 2020 Frontier. It makes 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque in that application.

It will be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission that should make it a bit more efficient. That should place it reasonably well in the market. Competition like the Chevy Colorado gets less power (308) and less torque (275 lb-ft) from its 3.6-liter V6, while the Ranger’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost makes just 270 hp and a healthy 310 lb-ft of torque.

The truck will be built at Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi assembly plant, and will be fully revealed at 1:00 PM on February 4. Be sure to check back in to learn everything there is know about the new 2022 Frontier.
