Production of the Lotus Evora will conclude this year, but Jay Leno has had the opportunity to test out America’s flagship 2020 Evora GT.
Unveiled in mid-2019, the Evora GT replaced the Evora 400 and Evora Sport 410 and is outfitted with a 3.5-liter supercharged V6. While this engine is sourced from Toyota, Lotus has upgraded it extensively, so much so that it now pumps out 416 hp.
Both a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic are offered. When equipped with the stick shift, as Leno’s test car was, the Evora GT has 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque while that figure rises to 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) for the automatic. With the six-speed manual, the Evora GT can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and tops out at 188 mph (303 km/h).

In a world where an increasing number of sports cars and supercars are producing well over 600 hp, the Evora GT may seem a little underpowered. However, it is relatively light at 3,104 lbs (1,408 kg) and produces more than enough grunt to have drivers smiling ear to ear.
Then there’s the handling. Like a true Lotus, the Evora GT handles brilliantly and, according to Leno, is one of the best-handling cars on earth. The six-speed manual is also a pleasure to use and again, is also one of the best stick shifts on the market.
