The McLaren 765LT is an absolute beast off the showroom floor, and with some simple modifications it can be made even more impressive.

This particular 765LT is the world’s quickest thanks to M Engineering. The only performance modifications made to the British supercar are a tune and a set of IPE downpipes. Despite that, when running on race gas, the car delivers an extraordinary 894 hp and 710 lb-ft (962 Nm) of torque at the rear wheels, meaning it pumps out over 1,000 hp at the crank.

When taken to the drag strip with an experienced driver behind the wheel, the car recorded a best quarter-mile time of 8.916 seconds at 157.85 mph, making this the first 765LT to dip into the 8s. During one particular run, it also sprinted to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 1.894 seconds and 150 mph (242 km/h) in 8.003 seconds.

By comparison, the quickest quarter-mile time set by a bog-standard McLaren 765LT running on a set of Toyo R888R tires is 9.33 seconds.

It seems rather obvious that tuning and extracting additional power from the 765LT isn’t particularly difficult and once owners start making serious hardware modifications to the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, we will probably see even more impressive results.
