The 2022 BMW M4 Convertible is just around the corner and has been filmed during development tests at the Nurburgring.
BMW has been testing out the M4 Convertible for several months now and has gradually reduced the amount of camouflage adorning its prototypes. The tester featured in this video is finished in a lovely shade of matte red and only has camouflage across the rear quarter panels and rear fascia, providing us with a very good look at the car’s design.

As you would imagine, the M4 Convertible looks virtually identical to the Coupe, albeit for the fact that it is equipped with a fabric folding roof. This is important as the previous-generation M4 Convertible had a folding hardtop that added a lot of unnecessary weight to the sports car, impacting its handling. The presence of a soft top on this new model should ensure it is sharper than its predecessor.
BMW is expected to sell the M4 Convertible in both standard and Competition variants. With that in mind, all versions will feature a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six, although the base model will have 473 hp while the Competition will be good for 503 hp. Rear- and all-wheel drive will be available, as will manual and automatic transmissions.
BMW has not yet stated when the car will be unveiled but recent reports have suggested it will hit the production line in July 2021. If that’s the case, it should be unveiled in the next few months.
