Many remarkable performance cars have come out of Japan over the decades and of them, the Lexus LFA is one of the finest.
Development on the front-engined supercar started in mid-2003 and in January 2005, the first concept of the LFA was unveiled to the world at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Other concepts premiered over the following years but it wasn’t until 2009 that the production-ready LFA was actually unveiled.
There are many things that make the LFA special and in this video review from Supercar Driver, we learn about some of its finest features.

Perhaps the single most impressive thing about the LFA is its naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V10 that is lighter than the company’s 3.5-liter 2GR-FE V6 engine of the time. This engine came to life with the assistance of Yamaha and in addition to revving to 9,400 rpm, produces a howl unlike any other road car.
During this review, the presenter compares the LFA to the iconic Porsche Carrera GT and says that the Lexus feels a step above the Porsche in terms of build quality, noting that things like the indicator stalks feel very premium.
Coupled to the screaming V10 is a six-speed Aisin automated manual transmission with paddle shifters. The reviewer says that the car doesn’t shift up through the gears as quickly as some more modern supercars but it absolutely nails the downshifts.
