A group of thieves descended onto AMC Auto Sales in Roseville, Michigan and made off with approximately $250,000 (£179,521 / €207,748) worth of vehicles.

According to WDIV, a group of six people went to the dealership at night and broke into the office through the front door.

Once inside, they searched the dealership for keys and then used the fobs to help identify which vehicles they wanted to steal. With the keys in hand, the thieves simply drove off into the night.

In total, five vehicles were stolen including a Cadillac Escalade and a Mercedes-AMG S63 Convertible. The thieves also appear to have been Dodge fans as they stole a Challenger V6, Challenger Scat Pack and Charger R/T. Needless to say, Dodge’s new Security Mode – which limits certain Chargers and Challengers to approximately 2.8 hp (2.1 kW / 2.8 PS) unless a four-digit code is entered – didn’t arrive fast enough for this dealership.

It remains unclear if the keys were locked up, but the dealership did take some precautions as they have been hit by thieves in the past. In particular, they used cheap cars to ‘block in’ the expensive ones. While this was a good idea in theory, it didn’t work as the thieves simply broke into the cheaper vehicles and pushed them out of the way.

There’s no word on whether or not anyone has been arrested, but if you see a smoking deal on an S63 Convertible in Detroit, think twice.
