The experienced race car driver piloting the AMG Project One in its latest teaser isn’t Lewis Hamilton, it’s you. Or at least it could be, as the pre-production car takes to the limelight in the reveal trailer for the latest installment of the Forza Horizon series.

Forza Horizon 5 was unveiled as part of the video game industry’s biggest trade show, E3, which was held virtually this year. The teaser reveals that the new game will be set in Mexico and the map will be the biggest, tallest, and most highly detailed ever for a Forza game.

The advantage of the setting is that players can go from dense forests, to high volcanoes, to deserts, and into beautiful cities, including Guanajuato a real city in central Mexico known for its beautiful architecture.

Although an exhaustive list of the cars available in the game has not been released, the launch trailer does reveal a fine selection of vehicles including a Land Rover Defender, a Ford Bronco, a Lamborghini Huracan, a Lamborghini Aventador, a Chevrolet Corvette (C8), a Mitsubishi Lancer, a McLaren Senna, a Safari style Porsche, as well as a selection of hot rods and desert racers. The studio promises that all the cars will be recreated with stunning fidelity thanks to ray tracing, a rendering technique by which light’s interaction with objects is simulated extremely realistically.

The next Forza Horizon also promises to provide you with “smart” prompts when you’re racing online to help make the experience smoother. In the demonstration, the presenter offers the example of a player who likes minigames, so friends driving near him are offered a prompt to start a minigame. In this case, the minigame is called Pinata Pop in which you have to run over pinatas with your car.

If that minigame doesn’t appeal to you, you could also make up a game yourself in “Events Lab,” an enclosed area in which players can create their own minigames with all kinds of props, like bowling pins and fans that make you jump up.

The full game will be available on Xbox Series consoles on November 9, 2021, and is available through Xbox Game Pass.
