Hot Wheels models are fun but they don’t give you the joy of building your very own toy. Now the brand has partnered with Mattel’s Lego knock-off, Mega Construx, to create a series of building set based on classic Hot Wheels models.

Several sets are on their way with hot rods, go-karts, and monster trucks all represented. Classic Hot Wheels models like Bone Shaker, Tiger Shark, Rodger Dodger, the Twin Mill, HW40, and more will all be offered this spring in sets that are small enough for a Mega Construx figure to fit in the driver’s seat. These will run from $9.99 for some single-vehicle sets to $39.99 for the “Car Customizer” set, which includes enough blocks for 4 vehicles.

This fall, Mega Construx will reveal the largest kit of all. The Bone Shaker (above) kit will cost $69.99 and will be much larger than the other kits and feature more detail. The set will also come with a Hot Wheels die-cast model of the car so that you can display them side-by-side.

The lineup appears to be cashing in on the cache of the Hot Wheels brand to take on LEGO’s popular Speed Champions line, which has recently worked with automakers like McLaren and Dodge.

Hot Wheels has also been branching out into the world of video games. Not only did Forza Horizon 3 and 4 feature Hot Wheels models, the toy is now getting a video game of its own called Hot Wheels Unleashed. That game is due at the end of September and will be available on all major gaming platforms.
