Singer Vehicle Design has become one of, if not the biggest name in custom Porsche 911s to date. They produce very few cars, and all are by commission, so opportunities to buy these automotive works of art are far and few in between. However, one of these opportunities has arisen, and its for their Brooklyn Commission 911.

This car was Singer’s eighth build, and it was commissioned back in 2012. The process of creating it involved starting with an accident-free 964 Porsche 911, stripping it down to the monocoque and strengthening it, building it back up with carbon fiber body panels, then refinishing it to a bespoke spec. Now, the car is up for auction on Collecting Cars, where it comes with extensive documentation on the build.

The color scheme for this car is a Linden Green exterior with a purple Alcantara interior. And when they say interior, they mean all of it, as even the top of the engine bay is upholstered in purple quilted suede. All the paintwork is original and has never had any work done, with the only exceptions being new side stripe decals and a touch-up of the purple wheel “petals”.

Options on the Brooklyn Commission include the Öhlins suspension package, Singer Edition carbon fiber track seats, an integrated roll bar, and a harness bar with Schroth four-point harnesses. It also has full suede trim on the floors, sills, and rear seat area which are complemented by brass seat grommets. Additionally, the wheels come with interchangeable “petals” in your choice of grey, black, or purple to accent the car however you like.

The main allure of Singer’s vehicles is that they combine classic looks with modern mechanic parts, and this one more than delivers. Under the hood lies a Cosworth-built 3.8-liter flat-six, which sends around 370 hp (375 PS / 276 kW) to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. If at first that doesn’t sound like much, you have to remember that a normal Porsche of this vintage is already quite light, and this one benefits from carbon fiber body panels.

The lucky few who’ve had the chance to drive any of Singer’s creations say the experience is truly unparalleled. Interested parties seem to be ready to pay a lot for that as, at the time of writing, and with less than two days left in the auction, the highest bid stood at £501,628 ($707,782).
