2022 Ford Focus Wagon Facelift Spied Showing Redesigned Light Units

A few days ago we published a set of spy photos of the facelifted Ford Focus hatchback and now we see the upcoming C-Segment vehicle in the more practical Wagon bodystyle, giving us a more detailed view of the updated lighting units.

The fourth-generation Ford Focus was unveiled in 2018 but competition from newer rivals like the VW Golf VIII, Honda Civic, Peugeot 308, and Opel Astra, make a mid-cycle update more than welcome. As we can see from the camouflaged prototypes, design changes will be limited to the front end (bumper, headlights, and bonnet), with only slight modifications in the taillight graphics.

The latest spy pictures gave us a closer look at the redesigned lights which look more modern, with thin DLRs surrounding four rectangular LED units. The front bumper has a plastic cover hiding the new shape of the grille and intakes, while the rest of the bodywork seems to be identical.

Interior changes will likely focus on an updated infotainment touchscreen, with more connected services and ADAS systems included in the standard equipment and fresh trim options.

The engine range of the Focus will be electrified further, retaining the mild-hybrid EcoBoost engines. It is possible that Ford will add full hybrid or plug-in hybrid variants similar to the Ford Kuga, which is based on the same platform. Those would rival the likes of the Peugeot 308 PHEV and the VW Golf eHybrid in Europe.

The facelifted Ford Focus is expected to be unveiled in late 2021 or early 2022. Both 5-door hatchback and 5-door wagon bodystyles will be offered in Active variants with raised suspension and plastic cladding around the bodywork. As for the performance-focused ST, we will have to wait to see if it will remain available in both hatchback and wagon after the imminent facelift.
