Being the CEO of McLaren Racing isn’t a bad gig. For Zak Brown, it, along with his other endeavors, has meant that he can afford a stunning collection of classic race cars.
As he puts it, every F1 car in his collection has won a race in period and been driven by a world champion. As a result, it’s a tour of some of the most iconic cars in the racing series’ long history.
They’re all on display in a video published by Jodie Kidd, an English fashion model who’s no slouch behind the wheel of a car herself. The fastest Star in a Reasonably Priced Car when she appeared on Top Gear in 2003, Kidd has since raced in a number of Gumball 3000 events and won her third ever race at a Maserati Trofeo Pro-Am event in 2004.

Among Brown’s cars are Mario Andretti‘s Lotus 79, the McLaren MP4/6 in which Ayrton Senna won Monaco in 1991, and the McLaren MP4-16 in which Mika Hakkinen won the British Grand Prix in 2001. These cars are special to Brown, too, because they were driven by three of his favorite drivers.
In fact, Brown is so enamored of Hakkinen and Senna that he actually acquired two of their go-karts, though he admits that like the MP4/6 from 1991, they’re too small for him to fit in. The MP4-16 from 2001, though, is big enough for Brown and he says it’s surprisingly easy to drive.
It’s not all F1 cars, though. Brown also owns a Porsche 962 that won five races, Dan Gurney’s McLaren M8D Can-Am car, and the McLaren that Emmerson Fittipaldi won the 1988 Indy 500 in.
There are also famous NASCAR entrants, the last works Holden car to win at Bathurst, and more than a few classic road cars, too. It’s an interesting trip into the history the fandom of one of racing’s major figures.
