Lamborghini Huracan STO Let Loose On Track And Through The Heart Of Rome

The whole idea behind the Lamborghini Huracan STO is that it’s as close as you can get to one of the automaker’s race cars while still being street legal. To advertise that fact, the company has released a video of the car attacking the Autodromo Piero Taruffi in Vallelunga and then driving through Rome.

The Huracan STO, which was first unveiled in November, was supposed to get its first track test with customers earlier this year, but the company put those plans on hold as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, its first test comes after it was sent up the Hillclimb course at Goodwood.

Lamborghini reports, though, that its customers’ feedback was very positive. That’s hardly a surprise for quite a few reasons, chief among which is the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 that makes 631 HP (640 PS/470 kW) and 417 lb-ft (565 Nm) of torque. The STO also weighs 95 lbs (43 kg) less than the Huracan Performante, helping overall performance.

That amounts to a car that can get from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 3 seconds flat, from 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) in 9 seconds flat, and on to a top speed of 192 mph (310 km/h).

Through the corners, meanwhile, it’s helped along by optimized aerodynamics inspired by the company’s race team, Squadra Corse. The new rear fender was derived from the Super Trofeo EVO competition version of the Huracan, while its hood, fenders, and bumper, meanwhile, were inspired by the Sesto Elemento.

All in customers were asked to pay $327,838 for the Huracan STO, which they apparently were more than happy to because every single one was sold before the first test drive.
