It’s not very often that a car leaves us speechless but this particular Chevrolet Camaro did just that.

Featured in a clip from 1320video, this Camaro is lovingly known as ‘Big Red’ and is well-known throughout the United States. It started out life as a 1969 Camaro and has since been transformed into an incredible race car that has dominated road course and drag racing events.

Big Red recently made an appearance at a drag racing event and set a top speed of 216 mph (347 km/h) in the half-mile.

Currently powering the Camaro is a 555 cubic-inch (9.0-liter) V8 with an aluminum block and heads. The engine also has a ProCharger supercharger and methanol injection, and is currently pumping out in excess of 1,900 hp. As you can imagine, putting all of that power to the ground isn’t easy so the team behind Big Red recently outfitted it with a towering rear wing mounted above the rear window.

According to the car’s owner, this huge rear wing creates upwards of 1,500 lbs (680 kg) of downforce. It also adds a lot of drag to the car but despite that, it is still capable of some pretty ferocious acceleration. Without the rear wing and with a slightly larger version of this V8, the car has previously hit 266 mph (428 km/h).

The car sounds absolutely insane as it powers down the half-mile and thanks to that huge rear wing, as well as the massive power bulge in the hood, it was also one of the most striking cars at the event.
