Indonesian-Spec Hyundai Creta Features Tucson-Inspired Face And Interior

After teasers and leaks, Hyundai officially launched the Indonesian-spec Creta at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The SUV benefits from a series of visual and technological updates compared to the versions sold in other markets. The second-generation Creta was unveiled in 2019 but the Indonesian-built version with Tucson-inspired looks and technology arrives just in time for 2022.

The Hyundai Creta measures 4,315 mm (169.9 inches) long, 1,790 mm (70.5 inches) wide, and 1,630 mm (64.2 inches) tall, with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm (102.8 inches). This makes it larger than the Venue, the Bayon, and the Kona.

Design changes compared to other Cretas are focused on the front. The “Parametric Jewel” grille with hidden LED DRLs looks similar to the Tucson and the Santa Cruz. The bumper is also unique, incorporating the main headlights and a wide lower intake surrounded by silver-colored trim.

The profile remains unchanged setting aside the new design for the 17-inch wheels. At the back, there are a few unique touches on the LED taillights and the rear bumper. The SUV is available in four trim levels – Active, Trend, Style, and Prime – with the latter being distinguished by the bi-tone paint and the additional bumper and side sill extensions featuring red accents.

The dashboard looks similar to the Tucson, with a standard 8-inch infotainment touchscreen and an optional 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that changes graphics according to the selected driving mode (Eco, Comfort, Smart, Sport). Depending on the trim, equipment includes automatic climate control with vents for all passengers, a large panoramic sunroof, an 8-speaker BOSE Premium Sound System, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, air purification system, ambient lighting, front and rear USB ports, along with a wireless charging pad.

Inside the cabin, there is room for up to five people and 416 lt (14.7 cubic feet) of cargo space which can grow up to 1,384 lt (48.9 cubic feet) when the rear seats are folded. In terms of safety, there are up to six airbags, while in the flagship trim level the ADAS suite includes Forward, Blind Spot, and Rear-Cross Traffic Collision-avoidance Assist, Hill-start Assist, Safe Exit Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist.

Under the hood, there is a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter Smartstream MPI petrol engine producing 113 hp (84 kW / 115 PS) and 144 Nm (106 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox or Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).

The 2022 Hyundai Creta is already available in Indonesia where it is also manufactured. The global version of the SUV is also offered in China, India, Russia, Brazil, and Mexico, albeit with the older design.
