One of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport replicas used in Fast Five is heading to auction in January 2022.

A total of 12 Corvette Grand Sport replicas were built by Mongoose Motorsports for use in the film. Just three survived the filming process and this car is one of the two designated ‘jump cars’ that were used for some of the most dramatic scenes in the Hollywood blockbuster.

The car is underpinned by a tubular chassis and suspension borrowed from a C4 Corvette. It will be auctioned off by Mecum during its Kissimmee sales event running from January 6 through to January 16. One of the other two remaining Corvette Grand Sport replicas was listed up for sale back in March.

Interestingly, whereas the other car that hit the used car market earlier this year had a GM performance crate 350 cubic-inch V8, this jump car instead has an air-cooled Volkswagen engine. The listing makes no mention of how much power the car has but we suspect it isn’t a particularly impressive figure.

As the car was used during the filming of various stunts throughout the film, it comes as no surprise that it has a lot of scratches, in particular across the front fascia.

Mecum Auctions hasn’t provided a pre-auction estimate for how much it expects the car to sell for. However, for any enthusiast that misses out on the car, you’ll be pleased to know that Mongoose Motorsports is actually licensed from GM to build replicas of the original 1963 Corvette Grand Sport and sells them for $85,000 without an engine or transmission.
