Mercedes announced today that the T-Class, the company’s new compact family van will be unveiled on April 26. The brand-new model will offer a combination of huge interior volume with a compact footprint.

Mercedes says that the new van has a sporty and emotional design, a spacious and variable interior, practical sliding doors, as well as the “comfort, connectivity, high-quality appeal, and safety typical of Mercedes.”

“With the T-Class’ new layout and design, we achieve a fusion of functionality and desirability,” said Gorden Wagener, Daimler’s Chief Design Officer, in 2020. “With our unique design philosophy of Sensual Purity, we create an attractive family companion being the T-Class inspiring with its design, proportions, and its perceived value.”

2021 Mercedes Citan

The new T-Class was developed in partnership with Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and has the tricky task of combining luxury expectations with an entry-vehicle pricepoint. It is expected to be a more premium version of the Mercedes Citan, which is aimed at professionals and has a smaller size than the V-Class.

The T-Class will offer a range of internal combustion engines and will be the old-school counterpoint to the Mercedes EQT, a concept version of which was revealed in May 2021. Reports suggest that the T-Class may get the option of Renault-sourced 1.3-liter gas or 1.5-liter diesel engines.

Keep an eye out here for more information about the van and check-in on April 26 at 8:00 AM EST (2:00 PM CEST) for full details on the new T-Class.
