Ever wondered what the ideal garage for your fully electric Volvo C40 would look like? The answer is the “Recharge Garage” designed by Garage Living in collaboration with Volvo, and placed in a luxurious residence in Palm Springs, California with the help of real estate agency Compass.

The project was initiated by Volvo Car USA, showing “a vision of the possibilities an electric future can bring to our homes”. Although the luxurious single-family residence that is currently listed for sale at the Desert Palisades community Palm Springs, California, is not your average house, it does look great in combination with Volvo’s latest coupe-SUV, offering the perfect place for the fitment of a bespoke garage.

The “Recharge Garage” includes three Volvo-branded Level 2 home chargers, a flexible workspace with a built-in desk and a foldable meeting table designed for remote work, smart storage solutions, plus an entertainment center with the latest-technology smart TV and Bowers & Wilkins speakers. This means that one could spend most of their time in the garage for work and leisure next to the parked vehicle that is charging.

Anders Gustafsson, Volvo Car USA CEO, said: “The Recharge Garage concept provides a glimpse into a future where electric cars will reshape our lives for the better, whether on the road or at home”. Marc Sanders, the Compass real estate agent that represents the particular residence, added: “Homes will become the fueling stations of the future that make owning an electric vehicle easier than ever.”

In that context, Volvo believes that by charging at home, most EV drivers won’t need to use a public charging station for their daily commute and driving tasks. At the same time, the zero-emission powertrain makes the garage a “cleaner and more flexible space” that can be used for more activities. Additionally, this specific residence in Palm Springs is equipped with solar panels, meaning that the Volvo C40 Recharge is charging with renewable energy.

Volvo has pledged to go electric-only by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. Currently, the automaker is offering an array of PHEVs and two fully electric models – the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge SUV siblings.
