There might not be a better way to make money in the used car market than with rare Porsches and their offshoots. This 2015 RUF Rt12 is said to be one of just 13 examples ever made and only one of two that were built with rear-wheel-drive. And it’s only ever driven 276 miles in its seven or so years of life.

For the unknowing, RUF isn’t just a German version of Singer or Emory Motorsports. The company has been working on Porsches for more than 75 years and does such extensive modifications that the German government grants the company its own VIN numbers once production is finished.

They have a reputation for being one of the best in the business for decades and that’s just one more reason that this Rt12 should do very well when it goes over the auction block at Mecum’s 2022 Indy event from May 13th to the 21st.

Of course, we haven’t even considered all of the amazing stats about this particular car in question. Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged flat-six that develops an insane 730 hp (536 kW) and 693 lb-ft of torque (939 Nm). This monster of an engine sends its power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission too.

RUF says that it’ll rocket from 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and onto a top speed of 230 mph (370 km/h). It has all the supporting modifications it’ll need to somehow handle that power too. Carbon-ceramic brakes are paired with a custom coilover suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires to keep you on the track and out of the gravel.

Still, with so few miles on this car, we sort of expect that it’ll end up collecting dust in a garage or in a museum. In fact, it’s already spent some of its life at the Petersen Museum as a part of the RUF exhibit there.

The other RWD model sold on Bring a Trailer in February for $910,000. It had a whopping 17,000 miles on it which we absolutely love to hear. At the same time, it makes it likely that this one goes for considerably more cash. Either way, this car is a piece of history that’s worth at least one or two really spirited drives.
