The Honda CR-V isn’t exactly known for its sporting prowess but that didn’t stop one owner in Japan from turning this one into a stunning speed machine. With the face from an R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R, it fools a lot of onlookers but under the skin, it’s a 500 hp beast with AWD.

Filmed by YouTuber Adam Zillin at HKS Premium day at the world-famous Fuji Speedway in Japan, this CR-V is only recognizable from the rear. The front and side of the vehicle look sort of like a squished Nissan Stagea and in fact, that’s what Zillin thought it was initially.

Take a deeper look at all the details and you’ll quickly realize that this is probably more impressive than any stock Stagea. The B18C engine under the hood has been boosted with a Garrett turbocharger fed by a custom titanium intake.

This engine revs to 8,500 rpm and has a speedometer that ends at 320 km/h or just shy of 200 mph. All 500 hp go through a stock CR-V transmission and then into the AWD system. We’re amazed that it can handle that grunt.

Thankfully, the owner thought to ensure that stopping wasn’t a weak spot and they’ve installed six-piston big brake calipers from Endless at all four corners.

The front end of the car is actually an off-the-shelf aftermarket kit from Top Secret. And notice how the lower section is actually much taller than on a real R34? That’s one of the features that help to make this front end look totally fitting on this crossover.

Subtle but important details like that continue inside where we find Bride Low Max seats with full carbon-fiber buckets along with a totally custom center console with a touchscreen infotainment system. Even the door cards are equipped with the same bright blue trim and black Alcantara found around the rest of the interior.

According to the owner, the only reason this car hasn’t been featured at Tokyo Auto Salon is that he felt it didn’t qualify because the back seats are still stock. We’d give it a pass. The CR-V is a popular and well-loved car but frankly, we can’t think of another custom version that’s as awesome as this one.
