Mercedes-Benz has showcased its innovative ‘Hyperscreen’ in a new video previewing the EQS electric sedan.

While the video is in German and is best viewed on a smartphone given its portrait layout, it provides us with a brief tour at some of the key interior features, starting off with the EQS’ sunroof. Ordinarily, a sunroof is operated by pressing a button or pulling a switch on the roof, but the one of the EQS is operated using a waving gesture.

As for the Hyperscreen, it encompasses a digital gauge cluster, a massive infotainment screen, and a screen for the front passenger. All of these screens are housed within a single piece of curved glass with haptic feedback. This teaser video shows the car’s navigation system in action and confirms that the screen will be very responsive to the touch.

“The MBUX Hyperscreen is both the brain and nervous system of the car,” Mercedes board member Sajjad Khan said about the system earlier this year. “The MBUX Hyperscreen continually gets to know the customer better and delivers a tailored, personalized infotainment and operating offering before the occupant even has to click or scroll anywhere.”

Underpinning the Mercedes-Benz EQS will be the brand’s new Electric Vehicle Architecture and it will have a design inspired by the Vision EQS concept. The car is expected to be sold in a variety of different variants and trim levels and at least one of these will be good for 435 miles (700 km) of range on a single charge.
