Bentley Details Bentayga EWB’s Optional Rear Seats, Says They Are “The Most Advanced Car Seats Ever”

Bentley detailed the “Airline Seat Specification” that was recently introduced in the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase, claiming it is “the most advanced seat ever fitted to a car”.

The rear seat of the Bentayga EWB has 22 ways of adjustment (bolster, cushions, headrest, etc), an electrically deployed footrest, a postural adjustment technology, and an automatic climate sensing system combining 12 silent electric motors and 3 intelligent pneumatic valve ECU units.

The postural adjustment technology is a new anti-fatigue system created with the help of a chiropractor. Dictated by algorithms, the pneumatic valves apply 177 pressure changes on the passenger’s body across six independent pressure zones. This relieves the tense body tissues and encourages the passenger to correct their posture, eliminating discomfort on longer trips.

The seat also comes with a sophisticated automatic climate sensing system, that is said to be 40 percent more efficient than manual heated/ventilated seat controls. It can detect changes in temperature and humidity in 25 milliseconds with an accuracy of 0.1°C, applying heat, ventilation, or both at the same time to maintain the desired temperature. The system offers the option of seven comfort levels, but 75-80 percent of people will set it in neutral mode according to studies. Interestingly, among the comfort levels, there is even a mode designed to cool you down if you have a fever.

Bentley says that half of Bentayga EWB buyers opt for the Airline Seat specification which of course is an optional feature. The automaker suggests this is the finest rear accommodation since the Mulsanne, which is predictable since the Bentayga EWB is considered an indirect replacement for the flagship sedan.
