Aftermarket options for suspension upgrades are mostly a thing of hot hatches, performance SUVs, or sports sedans and coupes, but Bilstein’s latest product is designed for motorhomes. You read correctly, the new Bilstein B6 “Camper” shock absorber is here to make your camping trips nicer.

The B6 Camper shocks are available for the Fiat Ducato, the Citroen Jumper, and the Peugeot Boxer siblings, which means they would also fit fine on an Opel / Vauxhall Movano or a RAM ProMaster since all of them are basically the same van. Those vehicles were selected as they form the basis for more than half of all motorhomes in Europe. Bilstein says their product is also available for semi-integrated vehicles.

Predictably, we are not talking about a stiffer setup for better handling, but a new all-rounder solution that upgrades the driving experience of campervans. Bilstein says that their shocks are a lot better than the stock ones coming standard with the vans since the latter were originally designed for load-carrying LCVs.

According to the company, the new shocks offer “a significant increase in damping force” compared to the stock items. Their characteristics make them safer in crosswinds and bends, where the extra weight of the motorhomes is usually felt. More importantly, they bring better traction and more precise handling, while being more comfortable with less suspension noise when going over bumps.

Those who want something even more sophisticated should wait for the new variant of the shocks coming soon. This one will feature automatic force adjustment through a mechanical process for even greater performance. If you are interested and want more information you can head over to Bilstein’s website.
