It might be hard to find your favorite new sports car but for those willing to look in the used market, there are a number of jewels waiting to be found. This 1967 Ford Mustang GT500E restomod is proof of exactly that. Under the stunning classic bodywork, it packs a 427 V8, a six-speed manual Tremec transmission, and a lot of upgraded technology too.

In case the ‘E’ in that name feels unfamiliar, it’s meant to stand for Eleanor, the Mustang that was given star title credits in Gone in 60 Seconds. This example isn’t tied to the movie in any way other than design aesthetics but that doesn’t stop it from being highly desirable.

The seller hasn’t listed a horsepower rating but we expect it to be north of 400 ponies because this 427 V8 has been bored out to 480 cubic inches and features FiTech fuel injection, aluminum heads, and an X-pipe dual exhaust with electric cutouts. Power passes through a six-speed gearbox, and then goes to a 9-inch rear end with 3.75 gearing.

The American Racing wheels hide big Wilwood power 4-wheel disc brakes. In fact, everything under the hood has been meticulously replaced as needed.

Inside the cabin is where things get really fun though. Classic components like the steering wheel and the dash complement modern components like digital gauges. A new Bluetooth sound system features an old-school design while modern power-window switches blend into the center console almost as though they were original.

Recaro bucket seats appear to be supportive and highly bolstered while providing space for a four-point harness. There’s also a stowable GO-EFI FiTech handheld controller with vital data like AFR, Coolant Temp, and more.

Interestingly, the winner of the auction will also get historical paperwork about the car including the original sales document. It shows that all the way back in 1967, this Mustang cost $3,346.05 when new. Today, StreetSide Classics is hoping that it’ll go for somewhere in the neighborhood of $339,995.
