Someone Just Bought This Flood Damaged 2015 Bentley Continental GT3-R

A rare Bentley Continental GT3-R was recently sold at a Copart auction after suffering flood damage triggered by Hurricane Ian.

Cast your mind back eight years and you may remember when the Continental GT3-R was launched. Capped at just 300 units worldwide, it was dubbed as “the most dynamic Bentley road car in history” at the time and followed the recipe perfected by Porsche with its RS models: less weight, more power, and extra aero.

Found beneath the hood of the Continental GT3-R is a tuned version of the company’s familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 pumping out 572 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque from just 1,700 rpm. It can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 3.6 seconds and top out at 170 mph (273 km/h).

In addition to increasing grunt from the engine, Bentley coupled it to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with shorter output gearing. An all-wheel drive system with torque vectoring is also featured, while the chassis was also optimized to improve the car’s cornering abilities.

Rounding out the significant changes made to the car included stripping back 100 kg (220 lbs) of weight and some aerodynamic changes, including a carbon fiber front splitter, a rear wing, and a set of 21-inch gloss black lightweight alloy wheels.

This particular 2015 Continental GT3-R was listed for auction with a salvage rebuild title in Florida. Images show that the water level reached just above the side skirts, meaning that water worked its way into the Bentley’s cabin.

It’s unclear how much the car sold for nor what the new owner plans to do with it. While it could be rebuilt and repaired, fixing any electrical issues could prove to be a challenge.
