Lamborghini: The Man Behind The Legend bombed with audiences and critics alike, but it appears there’s another interesting flick on the horizon.

According to Deadline, a new Bullitt is in the works and the title character will be played by Bradley Cooper. Steve McQueen took the helm in the 1968 original, which was honored a few years ago with a special edition Ford Mustang Bullitt.

Little is known about the film at this point, but the script is reportedly being written by Josh Singer, whose other credits include The Fifth Estate, Spotlight, The Post, and First Man. Deadline reports the upcoming movie won’t be a remake, rather a “new idea centered on the character” of San Francisco detective Frank Bullitt.

That’s not much to go on, but the publication says the movie will be produced by Steven Spielberg, who has reportedly been having discussions with Cooper about the flick since the early days of the coronavirus pandemic. Deadline goes on to say “Steve McQueen’s son, Chad, and granddaughter Molly McQueen will exec[utive] produce the new movie.”

While a number of questions remain, the original Bullitt featured one of the most iconic chase scenes in cinema history. It’s only natural to assume the new Bullitt would feature something similar and, if that’s the case, Ford would likely be thrilled to have the redesigned Mustang take part.

Of course, only time will tell and there’s no word on when the new Bullitt will arrive in theaters.
