Ford knocked it out of the park with the 2024 Mustang and you can score the very first one next month.

As part of the automaker’s commitment to giving back, Ford has teamed up with Barrett-Jackson to auction the first 2024 Mustang GT Fastback (VIN 001) on January 28th.  100% of the hammer price will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which seeks to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Besides helping a good cause, the winning bidder will get to order the Mustang GT in their preferred specification.  As a result, they can choose from 11 exterior colors as well as equip the car with either a six-speed manual or a ten-speed automatic transmission.

First 2024 Ford Mustang GT Going Up For Auction Next Month

Regardless of which gearbox they choose, the Mustang GT comes with a fourth-generation 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that features a dual throttle body induction system, structural improvements, and an upgraded oil pan.  Thanks to these changes, the engine develops 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque, which is an increase of 30 hp (22 kW / 30 PS) and 5 lb-ft (7 Nm).  The company also offers an active-valve performance exhaust, which increases the output to 486 hp (362 kW / 493 PS) and 418 lb-ft (566 Nm).

Sticking with the go fast theme, the Mustang offers a Performance Pack that includes a strut tower brace, a limited slip differential, beefy Brembo brakes, and an auxiliary engine oil cooler.  Customers can also get a MagneRide active suspension and Recaro seats.

Speaking of the interior, it’s far more modern as it sports a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and an available 13.2-inch SYNC 4 infotainment system.  Buyers will also find a flat-bottomed steering wheel, higher quality materials, and minimalist switchgear.

There’s no auction estimate, but there’s little doubt the first 2024 Mustang GT will sell for more than six figures.  However, the ‘regular’ model will go on sale next summer.
