The all-new GMC Hummer EV SUV is one of the most anticipated vehicles of 2024. The very first one (VIN #1) was sold back in January before it was even produced. Now, a forum post indicates that it’s back up for sale even before that first buyer has even taken delivery.

This Hummer EV SUV is the same one that sold for $500,000 at a Barrett-Jackson auction according to the poster on HummerChat.com. It features the Edition 1 trim package which includes 4WD, 830 hp (618 kW), 800-volt architecture, and four-wheel steering. It’s a cool vehicle but some were shocked when it went for just half a million dollars, given that the very first production unit of its pickup truck sibling sold for a whopping $2.5 million.

The forum post purports to be from a person named Bill under the handle ‘RoadKing40’. According to Bill, a company that he’s a part of bought the SUV. In the process of the sale, the proceeds went to a charity called Tread Lightly. Bill says that it “aligns well with our company” but that “the Hummer should go to a true enthusiast or collector.”

First 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Is Allegedly Back Up For Sale After January Auction

Evidently, he spoke with General Motors recently and confirmed that the SUV is being built and that Bill’s company will receive both the SUV and the associated paperwork soon. He also says that Barrett-Jackson is interested in facilitating a new auction for the SUV at either Palm Beach or Vegas.

We’ve reached out to GMC to confirm these details but have yet to hear back from them. What we can say is that in a video posted by Barrett-Jackson highlighting the Hummer EV SUV VIN 001 sale (seen below), they interview one of the buyers whose name is Bill. Neither GM nor Barrett-Jackson released any information on the buyer(s) of the electric vehicle or the company behind the purchase at the time of the auction.

We’ll update you if we hear back from the automaker or learn more from another source.
