The Dacia Duster is known as a value-for-money proposal, but most owners prefer the flagship Extreme trim. German dealer CarPoint knows that, which is why they build even more special versions of the SUV with extra features. An indicative example is the pictured Duster CarPoint Yellow Edition looking like the performance-focused trim that never existed from the factory.

The most obvious modification is the new set of five-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels finished in black with yellow accents. The wider low-profile tires will definitely limit the off-road credentials of the Duster, as will the significantly lowered suspension that brings it closer to the ground giving it a sportier stance. The rugged character of the Romanian SUV is one of its main selling points but we are sure that some buyers were only planning on using it on the tarmac so there will most likely be an audience for this build.

Dacia Duster Gets A Low-Ride Sporty Makeover With CarPoint Yellow Edition

The SUV has a striking yellow wrap contrasting with the black cladding around the bodywork and featuring “CarPoint Edition” graphics on the rear quarter panels. Additionally, the Duster comes fitted with a bull bar at the front, running boards on the sides, and custom dual exhaust pipes at the back. Finally, the grille with the new Dacia emblem gets yellow accents to stand out from the Duster crowd. Optional features include a trailer hitch (fixed or detachable), an extra set of 16-inch alloy wheels shod in winter tires, and/or all-weather tires on the standard 20-inch rims.

Changes are less obvious inside the cabin, as they are limited to branded stainless steel door sills and velour floor mats. The special edition builds on the high-spec Prestige which comes standard with the 8-inch Media Nav infotainment, multi-view camera, auto climate control, heated seats, cruise control, etc. Having said that, the hard scratchy plastics all over the interior give away the budget-friendly nature of the model.

The sporty-looking Duster doesn’t get any performance upgrades but it is based on the 1.3 TCe 150 4WD trim which is the most powerful of the range. The turbocharged 1.3-liter engine produces 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 250 Nm (184.4 lb-ft) of torque right from the factory, sending power to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

The Dacia Duster CarPoint Yellow Edition is listed for €33,990 ($37,486), which sounds like a fair price considering the extra kit. Browsing through the dealer’s inventory we found plenty of “CarPoint Edition” specials with different liveries and different powertrain options. In 2024 we expect the all-new generation of the Dacia Duster to arrive, although we doubt that the automaker would ever consider a sporty variant of the SUV, leaving it entirely up to tuners.
