Volkswagen is taking the Golf R to new extremes with an all-new special edition dubbed the 333.

Based on the Golf R Performance, the Golf R 333 features a Lime Yellow Metallic exterior that contrasts with a black roof and black 19-inch wheels wrapped in semi-slick tires. They’re joined by LED Matrix headlights, “333” graphics, and an Akrapovič exhaust system with titanium silencers.

The cabin is more restrained, but buyers will find Nappa leather sport seats, a Harman Kardon premium audio system, and a sequentially numbered badge on the dashboard. We can also see carbon fiber-like trim, gloss black accents, and blue contrast stitching.

Volkswagen noted the car comes with an assortment of driver assistance systems including adaptive cruise control with stop and go. It’s joined by Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Travel Assist, and a rear view camera system.

Power is provided by a familiar turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 329 hp (245 kW / 333 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. This enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h). Those numbers carryover from the Golf R Performance and we can assume the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive system do as well.

Only 333 units will be made and German customers can order the model on June 2nd. Production is slated to begin in September and deliveries will start the following month.

However, there’s a sizable caveat as pricing begins at €76,410 ($81,291) in Germany. That’s an outrageous number, especially when you consider the similar Golf R Performance starts at €57,985.
