When two Ford Mustangs line up alongside each other at a set of traffic lights, there’s a very good chance that something will go wrong for one of them. That’s exactly what happened in this case and as we’ve seen with so many Mustang crashes over the years, this one was easily avoidable.

This clip was recently shared to Reddit and shows a black Mustang lining up alongside a white one at a set of lights. Initially, it appears as though the driver of the black Mustang is going to try and race the white one but when the lights turn green, he instead decides to do a burnout, directly in front of traffic. He either just wanted to have a little fun or was eager to show off his driving skills to bystanders.

It doesn’t take long for things to start to unravel. The driver manages to spin up the rear wheels of the Mustang through the entirety of the intersection but as the speeds start to build, the rear of the pony car begins to slide gently to the left, perhaps after the driver shifted into second gear or simply because they kept their foot planted to the floor.

In either case, the car first slid to the left and then snapped to the right, sliding across one lane of the road and slamming into a guard rail. The impact looks quite heavy with the car’s front end first striking the guard rail before the rear driver-side quarter section follows through.

As for the white Mustang, it quickly accelerated away from the lights, racing what appears to be a Dodge Challenger. Remarkably, this ‘Stang driver appears to have kept the car under control.
